EDITION 02
AW 24/25
This was only my second shoot for record label Decca and my first with the great Austrian musician, Alfred Brendel. After a more formal studio-style portrait session in his home, we decided to go for a walk around the neighbourhood.
As we chatted, I snapped away quickly. Walking ahead, I turned to notice that Mr Brendel had disappeared. Suddenly, his head popped around a corner - and I realised that this was a great shot in the making. I asked the maestro to recreate it, but this time wearing the black beret he had with him. Switching to my rather cumbersome medium format camera I captured this shot. Twenty years on, it remains one of my very favourites.
